Energy Modelling

What is Energy Modelling?

Building energy modelling is the process of using computer software to simulate the energy performance of a building. It is a useful tool to evaluate the energy performance of different design options and identify strategies to reduce energy use and operational carbon emissions for new and existing buildings. Building energy modelling is beneficial in the early stage of the design as part of an integrated design process to optimize the design and performance of the building.

Energy modelling can be used to guide design decisions, demonstrate compliance with energy standards and incentive programs, identify cost-saving opportunities, as well as for research purposes and policy development.

Our Energy Modelling Services

We provide energy modelling services for:

New construction and existing buildings, as well as for research projects and policy & code development.

Compliance with standards such as BC Energy Step Code, CaGBC Zero Carbon, BuiltGreen, Well, Fitwel, LEED, VBBL, Vancouver Rezoning.

All stages of design, from feasibility studies and conceptual design to building permit applications and as-built energy models.

Incentive programs such as CleanBC Commercial New Construction Program,
Fortis Commercial New Construction Performance Program and others.

Building types including multi-unit residential, mixed-use, commercial, institutional, and single family homes.
